Japan has just release the live-action movie version of Kuroshitsuji, also known as the Black Butler, based on the manga/anime series written and directed by Yana Toboso. It stars Ayame Goriki as Genpou Shiori and Hiro Mizushima as Sebastian Michaelis. The movie is set is 2020 Asia where Shiori Genpo runs a large corporation name d Funtom supported by the wealthy and burgeoisie. It is a confectionary and toy manufacturer owned by Ciel Phantomhive, a thirteen-year old who is head of the noble family and known as the Queen’s watchdog.
Shiori is considered a descendant of the prestigious noble family in England. Her main duty is to solve difficult cases ordered by the Queen. One way of getting revenge is by making a deal with Sebastian, the demonic butler of the Phantomhive household that serves Ciel in carrying out whatever demands he says. Even though Butler Sebastian protects Shiori and helps her get revenge, she ends up paying the ultimate price. Butler Sebastian ends up consuming her soul.
In the manga series released back in 2006, the original setting took place in England during the 19th century. The movie is directed by Kentaro Otani and Keiichi Sato. It has an all-star Japanese cast that includes Mizuki Yamamoto, Taro Shigaki, Yuka, and Tomomi Maruyama. There is additional information and photo stills from the movie in the link below.
