Actress Tao Tsuchiya plays female ninja Misao Makimachi in the live-action film Rurouni Kenshin. She starred in the historical action TV series Ryomaden directed by Keishi Otomo before appearing in the first live-action Rurouni Kenshin and its two sequels. The two new films will include the Kyoto arc from Nobuhiro Watsuki’s original historical action manga. Rurouni Kenshin: Kyoto Taika-hen(Rurouni Kenshin: The Great Kyoto Fire) will open on August 1st and Rurouni Densetsu no Saigo-hen(Rurouni Kenshin: The End of a Legend) on September 13th in Japan. The first film opened in Japan back in 2012 and had a North American premiere in Los Angeles during December of that same year.
